Drivers in Denton, Carrollton, and Flower Mound, TX, can continue reading below to find out which one is best suited for their needs.
MAZDA CX-30 vs Hyundai Kona: Performance
Between these two SUVs, the Mazda CX-30 comes out with an early lead in terms of performance specs. Its standard Skyactiv®-G 2.5 4-cylinder engine provides 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. By comparison, the Hyundai Kona’s standard 2.0L 4-cylinder engine falls short with 147 horsepower.
Both SUVs also have turbocharged upgrade options. On the Mazda CX-30, you’ll find the Skyactiv®-G 2.5 Turbo 4-cylinder engine, which provides up to a whopping 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Kona N Line trim offers a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which once again comes in second with a max of 195 horsepower.
When you need a steady ride anytime, you’ll be happy to know that both the CX-30 and the Kona offer all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. However, while the Mazda CX-30 comes standard with i-Activ AWD® with Off-road Traction Assist, the Kona’s all-wheel drive system is only available as an additional option.
MAZDA CX-30 vs Hyundai Kona: Interior
Inside both SUVs, you’ll find a comfortable interior waiting to welcome you and up to four passengers! Both come standard with cloth-trimmed seating and offer available leather-trimmed seating on higher trim levels. Between these two options, however, the Mazda CX-30 also offers leatherette-trimmed seating, an option the Hyundai Kona lacks.
When it comes to other comfort features, both models share similar options, including available heated front seats and an 8-way power driver’s seat. For storage solutions, both models also feature flexible 60/40 split fold-down rear seatbacks, allowing you to customize your cargo area to suit your needs.
In terms of storage space, both models boast a vast total cargo volume of just over 45 cubic feet when the second row is folded down completely. When the back row is up, however, the Mazda CX-30 contains a bit more wiggle room, with 20.2 cubic feet of standard cargo volume compared to the Kona’s 19.2 cubic feet.

These features and more can be controlled in both vehicles by a central touchscreen display.
